Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Getting Started & Shipping
How do I start a data recovery case?
First, order an Evaluation Report through our Services & Pricing page. Once ordered, please print your invoice and include it in the package with your device.

Where do I send my device?
Please ship your package to our Amsterdam facility:

ATP DATA SERVICES
Arlandaweg 92 - Unit 14.2
1043 EX Amsterdam
The Netherlands

How should I package my media?
Data storage components are extremely delicate. To ensure the best chance of recovery:

-
Hard Drives: Remove internal drives from the laptop/desktop case before shipping.
-
Small Media: Place USB drives, SD cards, or smartphones in an envelope before wrapping.
-
Protection: Wrap all media in bubble wrap or foam and place it in a box twice the size of the device so there is no movement during transit.
Evaluation, Quotes & Pricing
How much does data recovery cost?
We provide a custom, fixed-price quote based on the specific failure of your device.

-
Evaluation: You pay an initial fee for a professional evaluation report.
-
The Quote: After analysis, we send you an extensive report and a fixed-price quote.
-
No Hidden Costs: Once a quote is provided, that price is final. We do not add "hidden fees" later.

What happens after I receive my quote?
-
To Proceed: Once you accept the quote, we will send an invoice.
-
To Decline: You can choose to have the device shipped back (we will invoice you for return shipping) or have us securely destroy the drive at our facility for free.

When does the recovery work begin?
Once our Finance Department confirms your payment, your case is officially scheduled for the technical phase. Our engineers start by mapping out a recovery strategy and sourcing any necessary donor parts required to stabilize your device.
Our Technical Recovery Process
What steps do you take to recover my data?
We follow a rigorous, multi-stage professional protocol:

-
Evaluation & Triage: Our experts identify the underlying issues and determine the best course of action.
-
Device Repair: If the loss is due to hardware failure, we perform delicate repairs to restore temporary functionality.
-
Sector-by-Sector Cloning: We create a bit-perfect clone of your damaged device. This ensures we work only on the copy, protecting your original hardware from further stress.
-
Extraction of User Files: We use specialized software to identify and extract your specific documents, photos, and databases from the clone.
-
Data Transfer: Finally, we move the recovered data to a new, secure storage device, ensuring data integrity and security throughout.
Timelines & Communication
How long will it take to get my data back?
Because every case is unique, we do not provide a fixed turnaround time. Recovery speed depends on the severity of the drive damage and the availability of specific mechanical spare parts. Due to current global supply chain and geopolitical disruptions, sourcing rare "donor" parts can occasionally take longer than expected. We prioritize data integrity over speed.

What if I don't respond to the evaluation report?
We require your instructions to either proceed or close the case.
-
Reminders: We send three reminders over a 30-day period. The final reminder will include a specific "Last Date."
-
Case Closure: If we haven't heard from you by the 30th day, the case is closed.
-
Storage & Destruction: We keep your drive in secure storage for another 30 days after closure. If it remains unclaimed after this window, it will be securely destroyed to protect your privacy.
Security & Post-Recovery
Can you recover data from encrypted drives?
Yes, provided you have the password. Please include it in your submission form or email it to us. For security, do not write the password on the outside of your shipping box.

How is my data returned?
All recovered data is returned on a new, encrypted USB drive. We will email the password to you separately.

Why are my recovered files renamed or missing folders?
If the drive’s file structure was physically damaged, we use "raw" recovery methods.
-
ROOT Folder: Files found with original names and folder structures.
-
EXTRA FOUND FILES: Files recovered without metadata, sorted by file type (e.g., .jpg, .pdf). This represents the best possible outcome given the severity of the device failure.
